A Conversation with Adrianne Munroe: Entrepreneur, Personal Stylist and Health Coach

Meet Adrianne Munroe, wife, mother to two boys (Trey 6 ½ and Tristan 4 ½) and a woman committed to her own growth and style as well as that of other women. She’s an entrepreneur, personal stylist, blogger and health coach.

Adrianne and I met two years ago when I covered “A Beautiful Cause” for The Baltimore Times newspaper. The event was curated by cancer support organization, Mikey’s Miracle and was a day of pampering for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. I was immediately drawn to her warm spirit. She was there serving as a personal stylist for the participants and we exchanged contact information.

Over the past two years, Adrianne and her partner Maria Slowe have hosted several amazing events in Maryland for women to share information, encourage one another and to connect.

She also made sure those events involved style. We all dressed up in our best outfits, clad with elegant headpieces for their tea party in 2018, and last summer, all the ladies came looking amazing in their chic brunch attire for a conversation with a local entrepreneur who dropped jewels for all in attendance.

The Brooklyn, New York native has been living in Maryland for the past seven years. She’s been in the civil rights field for seventeen years and currently works for the State of Maryland as a EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) compliance officer.

Adrianne has always been a creative and made sure she was singing, acting or styling on the side while working her day job. She said it’s a must and I agree. You have to have a balance with your career and creativity, it’s a self-care practice.

Last week, I got a chance to have a great Zoom video call with Adrianne about her blog Fabulous Moms Rock, her weight loss journey and personal styling business. You can also check out the video of our conversation on my Instagram page @dareisejones

A Conversation with Adrianne Munroe

Dareise: Tell me about your blog Fabulous Moms Rock (Instagram handle @fabulousmomsrock). When did you start it and why?

Adrianne: In 2015, I started Fabulous Moms Rock. I created the blog because I just felt like I lost myself…as Adrianne. I just felt like I needed to be my fabulous self again. So, I said I’m going to create this blog, because you know, even though we’re moms and we have a lot going on you can lose yourself in all the roles that you play. So, I said I would love to actually help other moms and do makeovers and I started the fabulous moms makeover campaign. I would do free make overs for deserving moms. I’d get hairstylists, makeup artists, I would do the styling or partner with other stylists, and a photographer and we came together (it would not be possible without them, they donated their time and services) to pamper a mom for the day and do a photo shoot.

That’s the goal that I had with start Fabulous Moms Rock, it was also a blog, but I wanted to give moms the pampering they deserve and the jumpstart to get back to feeling like themselves if they needed it.

Dareise: So, I know you are a personal stylist. Tell me about that business and what you do for women.

Adrianne: This year I decided to officially make my styling business a legitimate business and I incorporated it. I do personal styling, so if a woman needs help picking out outfits, if she has clothes in her closet and has no clue on how to put things together, I do a virtual session with her to style her. I help women by showing them how to put outfits together and give them tips on how to balance things out, choose the colors that can go together and show them how to accessorize.

I also offer shopping. I do virtual shopping with women who don't necessarily like to shop online or don’t know what to pick out. I show them the type of outfits that would look good on them. I start with a style assessment for everyone and go through all the information about their style and their lifestyle so I have a good idea of who they are. This helps me to make sure that the outfits I pick for them are true to them.

I do closet audits as well. I will go through your closet and show you what you may need to get rid of. I’ll ask you why do you have this outfit if you’ve never worn it, or I’ll tell you if it’s outdated or doesn’t fit your personality. I’ll go through a woman’s closet to help them clear out the clutter so that they can attract things that belong in their closet. I also work with brands, like mom-preneurs and women entrepreneurs and help them with their style and branding.

Dareise: You recently shared on social media that you lost 25 pounds! How did you do it?

Adrianne: Since having kids, my weight did fluctuate here and there. After having my first son, it was easy to bounce back but after having my second son, it was like I could not get that extra weight off. So, I just dealt with it and I just kind of settled, but I said I’m not doing that this year. I turned forty, and I said something has got to change. I tried so many things: I tried dieting, I tried doing this and that and it just didn't work.

Then my cousin told me about this program and said she would introduce me to her coach. And, it has like blown my mind, because I'm like first of all, I haven’t seen myself this size since I got married, which was nine years ago. I am a size 8, down from a 12. I wasn't even expecting these results. I said I’m going to give it a try for one month and see how it goes [she’s been on the program since August 2020]. Today, I think I'm 27 pounds down. I had a goal and I said I just don't want to settle anymore and I shouldn't have to. Prior to starting the program, I was looking up surgeries, but I said let me just try this. So, I tried it and it really worked and all I really did was just change my nutrition. You have to take a before picture and after the first week I saw a difference. I had a coach who was my accountability partner. He guided me, he coached me and encouraged me. His story alone inspired me. I was like wow if you could lose 155 pounds, I know I can do it. It's not even just losing the weight, it’s about the energy you get by eating healthy. I wasn't working out it was the nutrition.

Adrianne also shared that the program includes journaling to shift your mindset and a community that supports you with making the lifestyle change for your best health. She loves the program so much that she became a health coach for the company.

This fabulous mom has managed to work full-time, start a blog and personal styling business, as well as be a health coach. How does she do it? Through trial and error like many of us and she’s learned to make sure to take care of herself: her health and her happiness. She also understands that you can have it all, just maybe not all at the same time and that it is important to pace yourself so you can enjoy it all.
